Position: Apprentice Moldmaker/Tool Room Machinist Report To: Shop Supervisor
Job Summary: To gain experience in the basics of mold making and repair with a customer focused attitude, the ability to demonstrate an internal drive to complete tasks on time and according to customer’s expectations and quality objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Lead Moldmaker’s supervision and knowledge
- Perform all necessary component build functions as requested (i.e. milling, grinding, drilling, etc.)
- Obtain knowledge of molds and molding practices (i.e. plastic injection, molds, study materials)
- Develop the ability to maintain and hold tolerances
- Learn to Maintain and Service shop machinery
- Learn to plan and schedule work to be performed accurately and efficiently
- Learn to become efficient at running most shop machinery and equipment
- Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills
- Inspect and verify your work on all components in process
- Assess completed jobs for improvements with necessary personnel
- Use geometry, trigonometry, shop mathematics, and calculator adequately
- Operate multiple manual and CNC machines in job related activities
- Maintain and clean work areas and equipment after use and as necessary.
- Coordinate work load needs to Shop Supervisor to maintain work flow efficiencies
- Shop Clean-Up and additional responsibilities as assigned by Shop Supervisor
- Learn MasterCam Design CAD/CAM
- Shipping/Receiving responsibilities as needed
Requirements:
- Good written and interpersonal oral communication skills
- Computer skills, for inter-office email and job communication
- Obtain knowledge of Mastercam Design for design review and shop drawing retrieval and creation
- Attention to detail and pride in your work. Willingness to study Mold Making information
- Work cooperatively as a team with fellow employees
- Basic Machine Shop Tools, Micrometer, Indicator, Wrenches, etc. list will be provided.
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma & driver license
- Knowledge in machining (or in process degree)
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- High degree of mental concentration and hand/eye coordination
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and move heavier objects with proper equipment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and high levels of stress
