CNC Moldmaker/Programmer/Operator

Position:                      CNC Moldmaker/Programmer/Operator                                     Report To:  Shop Supervisor

Job Summary:            Build quality tooling from complex mold and part designs with a customer focused attitude, and the ability to demonstrate an internal drive to complete tasks on time and according to customer’s expectations and quality objectives.

Responsibilities:         

  • Knowledge of molds and molding practices (i.e. plastic injection molds, metal injection molds, die cast dies)
  • Efficient at programming and running shop machinery (CNC machining centers, High-Speed-Milling, etc.)
  • Attend kick-off meetings and provide input for design and mold build
  • Plan and schedule jobs to meet quoted hours and delivery dates
  • Clearly communicate to determine the most efficient method of manufacture to others working with you.
  • Perform all inspection procedures prior to passing mold component/electrodes on to lead moldmaker.
  • Prepare needed drawings and instructions to coordinate with team members and apprentices
  • Complete paperwork or instructions for additional details to be performed for mold assembly.
  • Assess completed jobs for improvements with necessary personnel for future efficiency
  • Use geometry, trigonometry, shop mathematics and calculator proficiently
  • Operate multiple machines in job related subjects
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, and machines after use, communicate necessary maintenance.
  • Work overtime per delivery and customer  requirements

Requirements:

  • Good written and interpersonal oral communication skills
  • Computer skills, for inter-office email and job communication, MS Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Extensive Programming knowledge of Mastercam for programming 2D & 3D toolpaths.
  • Knowledge of Electrode Design, Graphite Machining and EDM process
  • Knowledge of High Speed Machining practices in Aluminum, Pre-Hard and Hardened Steel.
  • Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Attention to detail and pride in providing a high quality and detailed finished product.
  • Work cooperatively with fellow employees in a team environment
  • Additional responsibilities as may be assigned by Shop Supervisor

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ work experience building/programming injection molds preferred
  • Ability to maintain and hold close tolerances
  • Able to stand for long periods of time, lift 50 pounds and move heavier objects with proper equipment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and high levels of stress
